Set up automations

Create your first rule in eight steps and let your vehicle run it automatically.

An automation is a rule: IF something happens, THEN your system switches. This guide walks you through the entire process using the example "If the greywater tank is almost full, the light in the living area turns red".

What you need

  • Revotion app 1.2.14 or newer and BRAIN firmware 2.4.0 or newer.
  • A connection to the BRAIN. Bluetooth works fine. Remote access also works if the BRAIN is online.
  • At least one device that provides a value and one that can be switched.

Step 1

Open automations

Open the side menu using the three lines in the top left and tap Automations.

The entry is in the "System" section, directly above "Scenes" and "Weekly schedule".

Side menu of the Revotion app, the Automations entry is highlighted

Step 2

Create a new rule

You see the list of your rules. Each one is displayed as a sentence: IF states the condition, THEN the action.

Tap the plus sign in the top right.

The Brain Memory bar shows how many rules the BRAIN is currently holding. If the memory is full, delete a rule first.

03
Step 3

Name it and add a condition

Give the rule a name that describes its purpose, for example "Greywater full". The name will appear in the list later.

Then in the IF section, tap + Add condition.

Empty editor New automation, the Add condition button is highlighted
The empty editor: name, IF, THEN, and lockout time.
04
Step 4

Choose device and value

Select the device whose value should trigger the rule. Below each device, you can see how many values it provides.

In the example, that's Greywater. Then you choose the value, here Fill level.

At the very top is Vehicle tilt. It's a value from the BRAIN itself and applies since the last calibration.

Select device by choosing vehicle tilt, living space battery, living room ambiance, fresh water, and gray water; gray water is marked
All devices that provide a value.
05
Step 5

Set threshold, operator, and hold time

Now you determine when the condition is met.

  • ① Threshold: Set the value using the arrows or tap the number and enter it. In the example, 85%.
  • ② Operator: "below" or "above". In the example, "above".
  • ③ Hold time: How long the condition must be continuously met before the rule triggers. Options are Off, 30 sec, 5 min, 30 min, or a custom value. This prevents a brief spike from switching.
  • Tap Save. The condition now appears as a line in the editor.

Step 6

Add an action

In the THEN section, tap + Add action. You have three options:

  • Choose device: switch or adjust a device.
  • Activate scene: start one of your scenes.
  • Rule: turn another rule on or off.
Select add action with choose device, activate scene, and rule
Three types of actions.
07
Step 7

Set state and values

Choose the device, in the example Ambient Living Room. Below each device, it shows what it accepts: "On/Off only" or "On/Off + 2 values".

For State, you choose On, Off, or "Don't switch". Below that, you activate only the values the rule should set, here the Color.

What you don't set, the device keeps. Tap Save.

State "On" and the color red.
08
Step 8

Choose lockout time and save

Finally, you determine how often the rule can trigger.

  • ① Lockout time: After triggering, the rule stays quiet for this long, even if the condition is still met. Options are Off, 5 min, 1 hour, 24 hours, or a custom value.
  • ② Save: The app checks the rule and stores it in the BRAIN. It needs a name, at least one condition, and at least one action.
  • The rule now runs in the BRAIN, even if no phone is nearby.
Finished rule with lock time 1 hour and the save button, numbered 1 and 2
Choose lockout time ①, then save ②.
09

Link multiple conditions

A rule can have up to five conditions. From the second one on, a toggle appears:

  • All conditions: Every condition must be met at the same time.
  • One is enough: The rule triggers as soon as one of the conditions is met.
10

Pause, edit, or delete a rule

  • Pause: The switch next to the name turns the rule off without deleting it. Conditions and actions are preserved.
  • Edit: Tap the rule's card. In the editor, the pencil icon opens a condition or action, and the X removes it.
  • Delete: At the bottom of the editor is Delete rule. After confirming, the rule is removed from the app and the BRAIN.
11

Good to know

  • A rule doesn't know that you just switched something manually. If you turn a device off by hand, the rule can turn it back on as soon as the condition is met again. A lockout time helps with this, or you can pause the rule.
  • If two active rules write to the same device, the app asks before saving ("Possible overlap"). If two rules would trigger each other, it warns you about an endless loop.
  • Below each rule, you can see when it last triggered.
  • If a rule can't trigger right now, the reason appears in plain text on the card—for example, if a device isn't reporting data.
  • The info icon in the top right starts a tour that explains every area of the screen.
  • If something should happen at a fixed time, use the Weekly Schedule instead of an automation.
