How do I update my BRAIN®?

You update your BRAIN® directly in the REVOTION App – in three steps manually or fully automatically in the background. The images show in red what you need to tap.

Good to know: BRAIN® and NODEs® are updated together. An update always brings your entire system up to date – there's no separate button just for the BRAIN® anymore.

What you need for this

Bluetooth

A connection between the app and BRAIN®. Without it, the buttons remain dimmed and the app will alert you.

Internet

A separate connection for the BRAIN via SIM or WLAN – it downloads the new firmware itself.

Power

Continuous power supply to the system until the update is complete.

Manual update

1

Open configuration

Tap the menu icon in the top left to open the side menu. In the System section, select Configuration.

Open updates

You'll land in the My REVOTION® Network overview. At the top you see your BRAIN® with the number of connected NODEs®.

Under System Settings, tap the Updates tile – it's on the left in the second row.

Search and update

1 First tap Check for updates – this way the app checks whether new firmware is available. After that, the card at the top shows what your system reported: "BRAIN® update available", "NODE® update available", or "No updates".

2 If an update is available, tap Update and confirm the app's prompt with Proceed – then the update starts.

The process can take a few minutes. You can see the progress directly in this dialog as a progress bar with counter – you do not need to restart the app. At the end, your BRAIN® restarts automatically and reconnects in the app.

Stay within range during the update and keep the system powered until it reports completion.

Automatic updates

from BRAIN® version 2.2.1 onwards

Enable the Automatic updates toggle in the same dialog – the BRAIN® will then fetch new firmware automatically as soon as it's available and a connection exists, and install it in the background. You typically won't notice anything.

You can disable the toggle at any time. Without it, you decide on each update yourself.

Note: The ambient lighting may flicker briefly during the update. This is normal and not an error.

If the update doesn't go through

You'll see two messages most frequently – both concern your BRAIN's internet connection, not the app:

"No network connection. Check SIM/WLAN and try again."

Your BRAIN® is not connecting to the internet. Check the stored network or SIM card signal under Configuration → WLAN. The update will be retried automatically.

"Download failed. Check signal strength and try again."

The connection was too weak. Move your vehicle to a location with better reception and start the search again.

Update Log

You can review what happened during an update at any time: expand the Show Logs section in the Updates dialog. There you'll find the update process logs and the history of changes made.

You can also find the same information via the side menu under Update Logs.
