Connecting inverters with NODE® Battery and NODE® Battery High Current

An inverter draws significantly more current than the NODE® Battery can measure. That's why it gets its own shunt: the NODE® Battery High Current. It's installed in addition to the NODE® Battery and handles the large consumers.

Division of tasks

NODE® Battery

It monitors the auxiliary battery and distributes five protected channels. Its positive side is protected according to the cable cross-section – maximum 200 A.

NODE® Battery High Current

It's a shunt for large consumers and handles currents up to 500 A. Its positive side is also protected according to the cable cross-section – maximum 500 A.

The NODE® Battery is explained in detail in this video.

Installation

NODE® Battery

Connect directly to the auxiliary battery.

NODE® Battery High Current

Connect directly to the battery. It belongs on the negative side – pay attention to the correct installation direction.

Inverter

Connect according to the manufacturer's instructions to the NODE® Battery High Current.

Note: The adapter connector of the NODE® Battery High Current has an orange locking mechanism on the connector housing. To release the cable, press it down with a small flathead screwdriver and only then pull the cable straight out of the connector. If you pull the cable beforehand, you'll damage the locking mechanism and the cable.

Configuration in the app

1

Open the NODE®

Open the side menu, tap Configuration and scroll to the Your NODE settings section at the bottom.

There you'll find the NODE® Battery High Current 1 and your NODE® Battery 2 – you can tell which is which by the product image. Tap the NODE® Battery High Current.

2

Set channel to inverter

Scroll down in the dialog to the Channels section. The NODE® Battery High Current has exactly one channel.

Open the selection behind Channel 1 and select Inverter there.

Save

Check that Channel 1 now shows Inverter 1.

Then scroll to the end of the dialog and tap Save 2 – only then will the setting be transferred to the NODE®.

Set main battery

Exactly one NODE® provides the battery values for all others. To do this, open your NODE® Battery and turn on Synchronize all NODE® batteries – this way you only enter the technology, voltage, and capacity once.

Leave the same switch off on the NODE® Battery High Current. Save both NODEs at the end.

Important: If the switch is on for both NODEs, both will continuously show 100% charge level – calibration won't change this.

Note: You can change the channel at any time, even during active synchronization – the channel selection is retained on each NODE.

from BRAIN version 2.1.3

Only from this version onwards is Inverter available for selection. Older BRAIN firmware only offers Generator, Consumer, PV System, and Shore Power.

Multiple large consumers

If you want to power multiple large consumers or rebuild your system, the appropriate distribution is described in the article "Battery system for high currents with Revotion" – it covers the setup with the TEXU distributors 200 A and 400 A.

We also show you the complete setup in this video.
